According to the latest information from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, Ryan Mallett drowned. He was not breathing when rescuers pulled him out of the water.

He played for the New England Patriots, Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens. Chosen in the third round of the 2011 NFL draft, he was Tom Brady’s replacement for the Patriots from 2011 to 2013. He ended his playing career in 2017 after his stint with the Ravens.
