Adrian Mannarino caused a surprise at the Queens Club
Taylor Fritz and Adrian Mannarino were evenly tied at 2-2 before the match, but world No. 8-ranked Fritz was favored as the American won the last two games.
Both players were able to keep their service games up to 3:3, before Mannarino managed the first break and after one more service loss from both players was able to serve out to win the set.
In the second round, which was dominated by the strong service games of both protagonists, the tie-break started without any break chances. There, the Frenchman took a 5-2 lead, but needed a total of four match points to win the game 6-4, 7-6 (7) after 1:38 hours of play.
The world number 46 sees himself in the quarterfinals. with Alex de Minaur against the number 7 of the tournament, who was able to keep the former top 10 player Diego Schwartzman of Argentina at bay 6-2, 6-2.
