The League’s General Assembly, meeting this Monday, unanimously approved the plan of activities and budget for 2023/24, which foresees delivering 9 million euros to the clubs.

According to the communication released by the organization chaired by Pedro Proença, the League presented for the first time a consolidated activity plan and budget of its business group, compiling, in addition to the budget of Liga Portugal itself, the budget of its associates: the Football Foundation – Liga Portugal, Liga Portugal Business School, Liga Portugal Centralização, Liga Portugal Comercial and Liga Portugal Infraestruturas.

“In budgetary terms, the document, prepared based on the new Strategic Plan for the 2023-2027 cycle, built in collaboration with the EY consultancy, presents a forecast of operating results in excess of one million euros (€1,110M), with global revenues above 26 million euros (€26,487M), thus maintaining the path of sustainability and development of Liga Portugal that has marked the last four years”, it can be read.

And he adds: “With the mission to assert itself, once and for all, as a major driver of the development of Portuguese football, this 2023/24 budget also provides for the largest distribution ever to Sports Societies, in excess of 9 million euros.”

As far as the activities plan is concerned, the League’s key bets include:

“1. The Fan as the central axis of the sporting spectacle: Because the supporters are the soul of Professional Football and it is for them that we work, we have to meet their expectations, making them the central axis of all decisions ;

2. Valuing and training sports agents: Training is one of the fundamental pillars for professional football. Liga Portugal will continue to invest in an increasingly solid and demanding formation;

3. Valuing Professional Competitions: The quality of the product will always be at the top of the list, making the competitions organized by Liga Portugal increasingly competitive and attractive;

4. Liga Portugal as a Central Agent for the Growth of Professional Football in Portugal: Liga Portugal will lead by example, not only in discussing topics relevant to the industry but also in guaranteeing values such as Ethics, Transparency and Credibility;

5. The internationalization of the Liga Portugal brand: Giving ever greater visibility to Portuguese Professional Football abroad, whether in competitions or in world-wide events, such as the Thinking Football Summit, will be another of the priorities;

6. The Centralization of Audiovisual Rights: Liga Portugal will continue to work on an irreversible and decisive process for the sustainability and competitiveness of Professional Football, guaranteeing a model in which all Clubs will win;

7. Decreasing the context costs of Professional Football: Liga Portugal will continue to fight to guarantee conditions that allow it to provide Sports Societies with competitive arguments similar to those given to its main competitors at an international level.”
