Haniger thwarts Hendricks’ no-hitter in Cubs’ Giants shutout

Kyle Hendricks did not tolerate an unstoppable until Mitch Haniger hit a two-out double in the eighth inning, which didn’t prevented the Chicago Cubs from shutting out the San Francisco Giants 4-0 on Saturday.

Hendricks (1-2) he faced a batter above the minimum possible. He walked Michael Conforto with one out in the second and he had retired 19 straight before Haniger found a fastball and sent it 378 feet from home plate into the left-field wall on the eighth pitch of the at-bat.

it put end longest no-hitter attempt so far this season. Blake Sabol flied out on Hendricks’ next pitch.

Julian Merryweather retired three opponents in the ninth inning to complete the work of a hit and give the Cubs back-to-back wins for the first time since May 29-30.

the dominican Christopher Morel homered off Jakob Junis (3-3) at the start of the third inning, and drove in three runs. Matt Mervis also hit a home run.

Morel added a two-run single.when there were two outs in the fifth inning.

For the Cubs, the Dominican Morel 4-2 with a run scored and produced tees. Panamanian Miguel Amaya 3-0.

For the Giants, the Venezuelan Thairo Estrada 4-0.
