For its 50th anniversary, the MTV Elze invited to the traditional Ascension Tournament, in which clubs beyond the district borders also took part. The VT Rinteln set off with seven judoka from the U11 and U13. For Carl Best, Ben Brinkmann, Mika Fischer, Linus Hagedorn (U13) and Dominik Jesin (U11) it was the first judo competition ever.
Although the U11 weigh-in time and the start of the competition were well before those of the U13, we all set off together so that the U13 competition newcomers could get a taste of the competition atmosphere and loudly cheer on our U11ers Dominik, Paul Vogt and Szymon Wojciechowski.
In a very large field of participants, our boys also met orange and green belts in their weight classes and also had to defend themselves against more experienced competitors. In the end, Dominik even made it onto the podium with bronze and the others took good fourth and fifth places in their weight classes.
At the competition we also met judoka from the Judo-Löwen Lauenau, who then invited us to a Randori (technical course with practice fights) at short notice. We gladly accepted this invitation at the beginning of June.
