Anyone looking for Milos Raonic in the current ATP world rankings will not find what they are looking for when scrolling through. Because the Canadian, now 32 years old, is listed there as “inactive”. In fact, Raonic’s last appearance dates back to 2021, when he lost to Brandon Nakashima in the tiebreak of the third set.
Raonic has been struggling with injuries ever since and it was by no means certain that he would come back at all. But next week the time has come: Milos Raonic makes his comeback in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. Of course on grass, one might almost say. Although he hasn’t won any of his eight Tour titles on grass.
Medvedev 2022 in the final
But: In Wimbledon in 2016, Raonic was closer to a Grand Slam title than ever before and even afterwards, but then lost the final against Andy Murray fairly smoothly. Raonic now starts in the Netherlands with a wildcard, in round one Miomir Kecmanovic is number five in the tournament.
The tableau is led by Daniil Medvedev in front of Jannik Sinner. Medvedev was in the final in ‘s-Hertogenbosch last year, but surprisingly lost it to Tim van Rijthoven. The local hero is not there this year.
Here is the individual tableau in ‘s-Hertogenbosch
