Former Bundesliga coach Florian Kohfeldt has found a new club: The 40-year-old will be training the Belgian first division club KAS Eupen from the summer.

Florian Kohfeldt’s engagement at VfL Wolfsburg ended on May 15, 2022. The day before he had wrested a 2-2 win from Bayern with Lower Saxony on the final day of the season. It was his last of 170 competitive games at his stations in Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen.

For his home club von der Weser, for which he had trained youth teams from 2006, he was on the bench for the first time in the Bundesliga on November 3, 2017 (1: 2 in Frankfurt).

Kohfeldt’s new task will not take place in a German league for the time being, rather he will join KAS Eupen from the summer. He signs a permanent contract with the Belgians. The first official training under the new coach will take place next week.

“With KAS Eupen, I’ll get to know a foreign league for the first time. I’m looking forward to meeting my coaching staff, the players, the staff and the fans of my new club,” explained Kohfeldt.

Kohfeldt’s new employer had just barely kept the class in 15th place in the table last season. Most recently, the Belgian Edward Still coached the club. Last year’s regular keeper Lennart Moser, who used to play for Union Berlin, is part of the Eupen squad.
