North Rhine-Westphalian Athletes Celebrate Success at Special Olympics World Games

The series of successes continued on the second day of the competition. Stephanie Drescher and Bastian Wind from North Rhine-Westphalia fought for the coveted medals. Bastian had to face the very strong Hungarian Adam Krizonics in the first fight, who won his first encounter very confidently. The fighter from Budokan Hünxe also lost out against the Hungarian after two Wazaari ratings. Still no less motivated, Bastian Wind won the following fight after a nice uchi-mata with ippon against Hugo Kasimir from Sweden and secured his first silver medal at the Special Olympics World Games.

Stefanie Drescher, also from Hünxe, was able to win all of her fights prematurely. The Syrian Marva Alkattan was thrown with a hip technique right at the beginning and then defeated in the hold. The two fighters Iderchuluun and Khaliun, who started for Mongolia, could not prevent a defeat against the fighter from North Rhine-Westphalia either. Thus, after silver and bronze in Abu Dhabi 2019, Stefanie Drescher won a gold medal in Berlin and completed her collection.

With Oliver Bahr from Baden-Württemberg, the last German starter will be fighting for precious metal in Berlin on Saturday.
