Only Bagnaia can match Valentino Rossi’s achievements in the Dutch MotoGP

Jakarta

Francesco Bagnaia’s victory in MotoGP made a separate record. Bagnaia equaled the achievement of his mentor Valentino Rossi who won in Assen for two years in a row.

Francesco Bagnaia successfully won the Dutch MotoGP. This victory also strengthened Bagnaia’s position as the top of the MotoGP standings. Bagnaia has now pocketed 194 points or is 45 points ahead of Jorge Martin who is in second place.

Not only that, the victory at the Assen Circuit also made the Ducati Lenovo rider equal the achievements of his mentor at the VR46 Riders Academy, Valentino Rossi. Bagnaia is a racer who has won two consecutive years at Assen. Previously, this achievement was inscribed by Valentino Rossi in the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Meanwhile, Bagnaia did it in 2022 and 2023.

The victory at the Assen Circuit was Bagnaia’s 15th victory inscribed on a Ducati motorbike. Armed with his 15th victory record, Bagnaia has also surpassed Andrea Dovizioso’s achievements as the most successful Ducati rider in the premier class. Meanwhile, Casey Stoner has won the most wins for the Ducati rider with 23 wins.

MotoGP also noted, Bagnaia’s victory in the Netherlands made the 26-year-old rider the most successful Italian racer in the premier class. So far, the Italian racer who has won the most wins has still been recorded by Rossi 89 times.

The victory in front of more than 105,000 spectators at the Assen Circuit did not come easily to Bagnaia. He tried his best to ‘run away’ from Brad Binder and fellow academy partner Marco Bezzecchi.

“At the start it was a bit scary because I thought I was too slow. Until I realized that the others felt the same way, then I started to close the distance. I had to overtake Brad as fast as possible, besides the temperature and pressure of the front tires increased a lot. I don’t want to make the distance close, but slowly increase the record time lap by lap,” he said.

“When I saw Bez pass Brad, I kept trying because I know he is very fast. It was very critical because I had to take risks. But it’s normal if you want to win,” he concluded.
