PSV Salzburg continues to stir up the 1st Bundesliga

Promoted team celebrated their third win of the season against Vienna Samurai. Series champions Galaxy Tigers were too strong. Flachgau prevailed in the derby against Pinzgau.

Ironically, things are going best for the league newcomer so far. PSV returned home from the Bundesliga doubles round in Maria Enzersdorf on Saturday with one win and one defeat, making them the only Salzburg club fully on course for the play-offs.

Schwarzl surprised

PSV chairman Ronny Tiefgraber had expected a tight duel in the opening match against Vienna Samurai, but in the end his team even celebrated a 5-2 victory. “Like last year, when we made the climb,” remembers Tiefgraber. This time, son Andreas narrowly prevailed against Borys Galek, and the two legionnaires Miljan Radulj and Bojandoses also won their fights. The new full-time national coach Julius Meinel also left the mat as the winner. But the biggest surprise was the performance of the 19-year-old top talent Tim Schwarzl, who defeated the Hungarian legionnaire Miklós Cirjenics after a minute with ippon. The fight against the Galaxy Tigers was then more one-sided than hoped. Legionnaire doses only managed the honor point in the heavyweight division.

Straßwalchner need a winning streak

Both of their home fights in Rauris were disappointing for the JU Pinzgau. First they had to admit defeat to Stadlau with 2:5, then there was also a 3:4 defeat in the derby against Flachgau. “Unfortunately, things didn’t go well for us today, so our chance of a play-off is gone,” said Rupert Riess. The Straßwalchners, on the other hand, still hope to make it into the Final 4 despite their 3:4 defeat against Stadlau. “But we can’t lose a match for that anymore,” explains Johannes Kastinger.

Bischofshofen is still hoping

3:4 defeats against hosts Mühlviertel and Wels had to cope with Bischofshofen. “We were unlucky to lose both times,” says Herbert Wicker, who also still hopes to make it into the top 4. “We’ve got the hardest part behind us now. It’s only half-time in the league, we’ll give our all again in the autumn rounds.”
