Hasselt is located in the northeast of Belgium, in the Flemish region, just over an hour from Brussels. And it is in this city of nearly 80,000 inhabitants that we have just installed a theme park, solely dedicated to sports: the Sparkx park. A space of 3500m2 installed on the third floor of a commercial building. Or how to practice sport at will, thanks to new technologies.
From football to snowboarding, curling or archery
You can change disciplines as many times as you want. There are about fifty different sports that are simulated, and you can chain them.
“This is not a gym” specifies one of the co-founder Mathieu Renier in international mail. He prefers to talk about “sports theme park”. Most sports combine physical elements and augmented realities.
A giant simulator for Formula 1
If you choose tennis, you are going to set yourself up as if you were at the baseline. You will see in front of you, a player, your opponent, who will serve on a screen, and you will have to return the ball, as if you were on a real court. Another example: if you want to try your hand at motor sports and Formula 1: you will sit in a giant simulator; you’re going to start, you’re going to jump with every irregularity in the track or taking every turn but you’re still going to try to go as fast as possible.
Also note that you can try your hand at boxing, biathlon, speed climbing and even jump from the top of a mountain and swing hanging from a zip line!

This sports theme park is aimed at young and old alike, provided you understand that you are in good physical condition, especially if you want to do as many sports as possible in a day.
Athletes of all levels truly find what they are looking for, including people with disabilities. A quarter of the activities are accessible to people in wheelchairs.
Mathieu Renier the co-founder of this sports theme park also says: “it would be great if someone who discovers archery, for example, then joins a club”. Prices: 35 euros for 4 hours, 27 euros for children under 10 years old. The objective of the founders is to extend this concept to France, Germany as well as the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
