Starting tomorrow, Šternberk in Olomouc will come alive again with the roar of racing cars. The 42nd edition of the legendary Ecce Homo will welcome over two hundred top European riders of mountain races and thousands of spectators. Starting today, drivers must prepare for traffic complications.

The 42nd edition of the Ecce Homo European Championship will take place from Friday to Sunday. The race was held for the first time 118 years ago. “Last year, a record 213 riders from sixteen European countries applied. There is great interest this year as well, we can already promise famous names that belong to the elite,” beckons to the popular races of Ecce Homo speakers Milena Schärferová.

The start of the race will take place in the Hlavní náměstí in Šternberk in the early evening on Friday, two practice runs are on the program on Saturday and two races on Sunday. In addition to formulas and plaques, racing cars from the brands Porsche, Lamborghini, Mitsubishi, BMW and Škoda will be on display.

The organizers have prepared something new for this year. “During the weekend, visitors will have the opportunity to visit the Dakar bivouac, where several trucks competing in this year’s Dakar will be parked. These monsters will also drive the Ecce Homo track,” Schärfer added.

Residents of Šternberk and motorists must prepare for traffic complications from today. Dvorská, Barvířská streets and the parking lot at the Ecce Homo sports hall will be closed from ten o’clock in the evening until Sunday.

From Friday 7 a.m. to Sunday 6 a.m., the streets in the center of Radniční, Jaroslavova, Vodní, Partyzánská, Čechova, Hlavní náměstí and the parking lot on Potoční will be completely closed.

On Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Sunday, the entire Opavská street will be closed up to Lipina, and road I/46 from the intersection with road III/44423 towards Horní Loděnice, road III/44423 Sadová and Na Valech will also be closed. Traffic will be diverted.
