The ACB condemns the cries of “murderer, murderer” to Yabusele during Joventut

A new sad and insulting episode was relived in sport. This time it fell on the match played between the Youth of Badalona and the Real Madrid, where the whites managed to make it 2-1 in their series. During a moment of the meeting, several fans of the local team uttered the words of “murderer, murderer” to Guerschon Yabusele after receiving a harsh foul by Ante Tomic.

As a reason for this, the ACB has responded to the controversial statements made towards the Real Madrid player and has issued a harsh statement condemning what happened in the Badalona Olympic Pavilion. In addition, they have acknowledged that they will transmit the report to the Anti-Violence Commission and to initiate an ordinary process in the Competition Committee of the Spanish Basketball Federation for ACB competitions. This last measure is due to the fact that the referees reflected it in the minutes of the match.

“The ACB deeply regrets the chants that have been heard during Joventut Badalona – Real Madrid, in which a part of the local stands called the visiting player Guerschon Yabusele a “murderer, murderer”, “he begins, citing the statement reproduced through the social networks.

“This situation has been included by the referees in the official record of the match, starting the ordinary process in the Competition Committee of the Spanish Basketball Federation for al competitions. Likewise, the ACB will send a report to the Anti-Violence Commission” , explains the ACB, outlining the measures they will take after the sad episode.

The start of the controversy

It all started during an action between Ante Tomic and Guerschon Yabusele. The Joventut player nudged the Real Madrid player in the face. The Frenchman fell to the ground after the hard impact and, after getting up, went to ask his rival for an explanation. After being separated, the cries of “murderer, murderer” began to become effective.

Several of the fans present in the Badalona Olympic Pavilion began to sing those phrases to the Real Madrid power forward. Luckily, the shouting against Yabusele was not reproduced excessively and the game was able to continue as normal. In addition, Tomic was sanctioned with an unsportsmanlike action for his performance against the Frenchman.
