The Algerian basketball team (3×3) will aim for the gold medal at the 15th edition of the Arab Games scheduled in Algeria from July 5 to 15, said the president of the Algerian Basketball Federation, Rabah Bouarifi.
In a statement to the APS, on the sidelines of the As tournament which will end this Saturday in Oran, the first coach of the FAB did not hide his ambitions for the Arab meeting. He said the national team “will approach the event with the firm intention of winning the vermeil”.
“To achieve this goal, our basketball players are currently in full training to arrive fully prepared for the Arab competition,” he added.
Recalling that the Algerian selection made an honorable run during the previous Mediterranean Games (GM), played last summer in Oran, Mr. Bouarifi appreciated that the group that makes up the current selection in this specialty (3×3) “is better”, which is why it is said that “a lot is expected of him during the Arab Games”.
He also mentioned that this discipline is in full development in the world, hoping that the holding of the next Arab Games in Algeria “will be an opportunity to further promote basketball (3×3) in the country, especially after the great success of this same tournament. . during the last JM”.
The Arab Games basketball tournament (3×3) is scheduled for July 13-15 at the Ouaguenouni sports complex in Algiers, a city that will host the Arab sports table along with four others, namely Oran, Constantin, Annaba and Tipaza.
In addition, the FAB boss highlighted the “busy schedule” of the various national teams in the coming period when the senior (men’s) team will face Tunisia back and forth (June 23 and 25) with a ticket for the African championship scheduled for July in Angola.
For its part, the “ladies” selection will play the Arab championship at the end of the current month, while the youth selection is concerned about an Arab event and another African, he also recalled.
