The Belgian women are European champions for the first time in history, the French celebrate bronze – ČT sport – Czech Television

Although the Spanish did not let their opponents take the lead until the 36th minute, they did not follow up on the gold medals from 1993, 2013, 2017 and 2019. Belgium was led to victory by center Emma Meessemanová, who scored 24 points and eight rebounds in the final and was named the most valuable player of the tournament. Kyara Linskens scored a double double with 18 points and 15 rebounds. On the losing side, Queralt Casas was the top scorer with 14 points.

The Belgian women went through the tournament without a single defeat. In the final, however, they were chasing the loss from the start and by the end of the third quarter they still had a ten-point deficit. They took the lead for the first time at 35:45, when Meeseman gave them a 55:54 lead with a three-pointer and followed up on Linskens’ successful throws. Overall, the Spaniards lost this passage 2:12 and could not make up the six-point deficit. Silver was also won by María Condeová from USK Praha, who was absent from the Spanish team due to injury as well as in the quarter-finals and semi-finals.

French basketball players won the medal for the sixth time in a row. At the last five continental championships, they won the same silver. The Hungarians, who eliminated the Czech Republic in the quarter-finals, did not reach the first precious metal since bronze in 1991.

The best scorer of the winners was Mamignan Touré with 20 points, and Iliana Rupert (13), Alexia Chartereau and Leila Lacan (both 10) scored double digits. Not even Virág Kissová (21 points) or Cyesha Goreeová with Ágnes Studerová (both 15) prevented the defeat of Hungary.

Valériane Vukosavljevičová from ZVVZ USK Praha also contributed to the bronze medal, scoring three points, five assists and four rebounds.
