The Movistar Team will wear a white jersey and the most sustainable in the next Tour

MADRID, 19 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Movistar Team will wear a predominantly white jersey in the men’s and women’s Tour de France, a kit made with 60% fabrics from recycled plastics and which makes it the most sustainable ever used by a team in the French race, announced in a statement.

For both the men’s (July 1-23) and women’s (July 23-30) Tour de France, the Movistar Team, Gobik and Telefónica have teamed up to launch a collection under the name ‘Iceberg’ that cyclists will wear at the start of Bilbao and Clermont-Ferrand.

The jersey features a predominantly white design, with blue representing the team, and adding white stitching to the shorts. ‘Iceberg’ represents the ice blocks of the oceans, endangered by the current climate emergency. The jerseys worn by the Movistar Team will be signed and auctioned to help fight this problem.

“The clothing pursues four objectives: improving the technical performance of the garments; the sustainability of the fabrics used to make them; the presentation of the Movistar Team with an innovative and differentiating design in the great ‘showcase’ of the 2023 season; and the social awareness for the protection of seas and oceans”, he stressed.

The ‘Iceberg’ collection is part of the ‘Ride to Cut’ project promoted by Gobik. The garments that are intended to reflect heat, improve protection against ultraviolet rays and increase visibility on the road have been manufactured at the Gobik production center in Yecla (Murcia), seeking the least social, environmental and economic impact.
