«The municipal administration of the City of Trapani, called into question on several occasions in the last few hours, in the context of the “sporting dispute” which has been holding court for at least 10 days even outside the city limits regarding the transfer of ownership of the Pallacanestro Trapani, deems it necessary to clarify some technical/bureaucratic aspects, both to the citizens and to the fans. While not going into the merits of the negotiation between the parties involved, which pertains to the private sector, it is nevertheless necessary to specify that:
1) On 06/19/2023, the Municipal Administration granted the CS Pallacanestro Trapani SSD arl company the availability to use the Sports Hall to support the celebration of the next Serie A2 championship, delegating the subsequent verification to the Sport Office procedural for the purpose of issuing specific administrative authorisation;
2) On 06/29/2023, following the aforementioned verification carried out by the Sport Office, a serious passive position of the CS Pallacanestro Trapani SSD arl company emerged with regard to the Body, in fact impeding the release of the definitive administrative authorization to use the Pala Ilio and with note prot. 53244 of 06/29/2023, the Municipality of Trapani proceeded to revoke the availability to use the Palazzetto dello Sport, without prejudice to the full regularization of the aforementioned debt position, for which – to date, unfortunately – no positive communication of response has been received by the municipal offices;
3) On 06/30/2023, the Municipal Administration granted the company Trapani Shark SSD arl the availability of the Piazzale Ilio plant for the purpose of completing registration for the A2 2023/2024 series championship.
In light of the foregoing, as of today 30 June 2023, it is clarified that the Municipal Administration has granted only Trapani Shark SSD arl the availability to use the Palazzetto dello Sport in Piazzale Ilio.
Political duty of the Administration is to support the sports celebration at the highest levels, as per tradition, of basketball in the city; an equal administrative-management duty is to protect the Entity with respect to the credits claimed. Hoping therefore that the controversies leave room for sporting victories on the field, we continue to monitor and support the actions leading to the achievement of the authorizations necessary for the practicability of the sports facility, preparatory to hosting the next championship in A2″.
