The Queens League twins, an inseparable duo

The Queens League is serving as a great showcase for many footballers. Clara Martinez y coral martinez they are twin players in the competition, in which they are known as ‘the queens league twins‘, who share absolutely everything. Both players were even picked by the same Queens League team, The Trunks FC.

Clara and Coral have played together for most of their soccer career. They both started on the school soccer team until they were 10 years old, when they decided to sign up for the Club Performance Soccer School, where they played with boys for two years. After this period, the Martínez twins decided to be part of women’s football, so they signed up for the Soccer Club Levante Las Planas. Clara and Coral were part of the winning project of the Sant Joan Despí club, playing from grassroots football to the youth stage. Clara broke her knee in her stage in the Levante las Planas youth team and meant the first separation of the duo on the pitch. However, they met again at the CE Europe in the following season.

A year later, the second parting of ways came. Clara signed for him EU Cornellà and Coral stayed playing in CE Europe. Even so, this season they met again at Cornellà after the signing of Coral.

The experience of the Queens League before federated football

How could it be otherwise, Clara and Coral are still playing together today, but in the new Queens League adventure. However, what is striking is that both players were chosen by the same team, Las Troncas FC.

The Martinez twins are Complementary midfielders. Coral has a more defensive record while Clara has more offensive clout, the perfect balance for a unique connection in midfield. “We’ve been playing together our whole lives. Without even looking at each other, we already know where the other is and where they want the ball. That’s very difficult to find in football. It’s much easier when we play together because we understand each other perfectly, we have a bit of mutual dependency in the game“, say Coral and Clara.

The Martinez twins are really enjoying the Queens League experience. Both Coral and Clara have prioritized the new competition from the beginning. After a meeting with UE Cornellà, both twins decided to leave the club and focus only on the Queens League: “The club did not understand why we prioritized the Queens League for Cornellà. The club put all possible difficulties for us, they didn’t want us to play in the Queens League in any way“, explains Coral Martinez.

“At no time have we failed to commit to the club, we have arranged it very well. Although we can understand the problem that this is for the club, we have not liked Cornellà’s position at all”, adds Clara Martínez.

Neither Coral nor Clara see the Queens League as a real threat to federated football, they simply see it as a totally different project: “In the end, whoever wants to make a living from this will not go to the Queens League, this project is more for entertainment” says Coral Martinez.

a common life

The Martinez twins are so physically alike that those who are not close to them have trouble telling them apart: “It’s funny about being the Queens League twins. We are very equal and we play on the same team, no one distinguishes us. We get to play in different teams, we change and no one finds out, “says Coral Martínez.

“This year, they took my fifth yellow card and I missed the next game with Cornellà. In that game they took Coral’s yellow card and the referee pointed it out to me on the scoresheet. Then the federation sanctioned me with one more game , since I couldn’t play that game”, explains Clara Martínez.

Even so, the fact that they resemble each other so much has also played in their favor on occasion: “In a game last year we were together on the pitch. The referee gave me a yellow card and then he took the second one from me, but he did not expel me. From what you can see, the referee had aimed the first at Coral,” says Clara Martínez.

However, facial features and soccer teams aren’t the only things the Martinez twins share. Clara and Coral have always been in the same group of friends, the same institute and they are both studying Business Administration and Management. “It’s crazy, I know twins that each one leads her life apart from her, few are not our case. We are like a packwe rarely separate,” says Coral Martínez.
