Toni Kroos has extended his expiring contract with Real Madrid by one year. The Madrilenians make this known through the official channels. The 33-year-old midfielder can prepare for his tenth season in virgin white.

Real recently saw Karim Benzema opt for a lucrative adventure in Saudi Arabia at Al-Ittihad. With Kroos, another club icon remains loyal to the Spanish superpower. BILD reported earlier this month that the German controller would have ignored an offer from Saudi Arabia. The confirmation of a contract extension with Real was long delayed, although there was little doubt that his future lay in Estádio Santiago Bernabeu.

Kroos soon played his cards open, but first wanted to see if he could continue to perform at the highest level at the age of 33. Last season he came to 52 official duels and was still a fixed value in coach Carlo Ancelotti’s team. Next season, Kroos will have a serious competitor in midfield with Jude Bellingham.

Kroos has played 417 times for Real so far. He was good for 27 goals and 89 assists. In the past nine seasons he won twenty prizes with the Royal Dutch, including the Champions League four times, the World Cup for clubs five times and the Spanish national title three times.
