At halftime in Game 4 between the Denver Nuggets and the Miami Heat on Friday night, UFC champion Connor McGregor took on Miami’s mascot Burnie in a fake fight for a painkiller spray campaign. But the Irishman hit the mascot so hard that it sent him to the hospital.

It should have been a simple dummy fight. Friday night in Miami, the Denver Nuggets faced the Miami Heat. At halftime, Connor McGregor entered the court for a fight with Burnie, Miami’s mascot, who had specially put on boxing gloves for the occasion. A scripted “fight” that was intended to promote a painkiller spray.

The Miami Heat mascot, Burnie, was sent to the ER last night after taking a hit from UFC fighter Conor McGregor during a midgame bit in Game 4 of the NBA Finals, per @sam_amick.

But it would seem that the former UFC champion did not go with dead hands: a first hook sent the mascot backwards and a second probably did not help matters. If the punches were planned, it would seem the Irishman struggled to control his own strength.
