After placing buoys in Río Bravo, AMLO asks countrymen not to vote for the Republican Party – El Sol de México

After Texas Governor Greg Abbott ordered last Friday to place a barrier in the Rio Grande with floating buoys to prevent Latino immigrants from entering the United States, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador responded that Hispanic citizens in the United States protest they should not vote for Republican Party legislators.

This Monday López Obrador was asked about the collation of these buoys, to which he replied that: “There is not much to do, just tell our countrymen not to vote even for the legislators of the Republican party – that by the way they are publicity actions and very vulgar—, they do it to try to deceive the Texan people that they are very strict and that they are going to prevent migrants from bringing drugs to the Americans, that’s all I’m saying, pure lie”, criticized the president.

He also recalled that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) has already sent a diplomatic note against this action.

In this sense, the SRE expressed in said document its concern about the placement of the floating barrier on the Rio Grande, in Texas, at the height of the Piedras Negras-Eagle Pass International Railroad Bridge, since it maintains that the barrier violates the treaties and prevents the flow of water, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico in a statement on Friday.

The president added in his morning about the actions of Republican politicians against immigrants: “I’m sure those politicians from the Texas Republican Party go to the temples and forget what the Bible says.”

He also expressed regarding the disqualifications of immigrants that he does not take the sayings of the Republicans very seriously and that they should not even be talking about it.
