England international midfielder Mason Mount announced in a video on his Instagram account on Tuesday that he was leaving the Chelsea club, as he was insistently announced by the press at Manchester United. “Given the speculation over the past six months, this may not surprise you, but that doesn’t make it any easier to tell you that I have decided to leave Chelsea.“, explained the player. “I know some people won’t like this decision, but I feel it’s the right decision at this point in my career.“, he added.

Negotiations between Chelsea and Manchester United have been going on for weeks and turned into a standoff when the Red Devils made it clear to the Blues that their third offer, for 55 million pounds (64 M EUR) was the last and that they were ready to look elsewhere if it did not give satisfaction. However, the positions seemed to have come closer in recent hours, with an agreement expected very soon.

Big Skimming

Engaged in a major skimming of its workforce which has already seen the departure of Kai Havertz to Arsenal, Mateo Kovacic to Manchester City, Édouard Mendy and Kalidou Koulibaly in Saudi Arabia or Ruben Loftus-Cheek to AC Milan, the Blues will therefore lose a player who had joined the club at 6 years old. Aged only 24, the midfielder with 36 caps (6 goals) had played very little from February last season due to injury.
