Arda Güler suddenly stands next to Florentino Pérez
MADRID. It should also be a largely unknown this summer. After the signings of Jude Bellingham, Joselu, Fran García and Brahim Díaz and before the possible mega transfer of Kylian Mbappé, Real Madrid announced on Thursday: Arda Guler is now a royal. The 18-year-old Turk comes from Fenerbahçe for €20m and has signed until June 30, 2029.
The very next day, on Friday afternoon, the club presented the attacking midfielder as a new signing in the Ciudad Real Madrid basketball hall. Güler then answered journalists’ questions at a press conference.
Florentino Pérez, as usual, took the podium first. Curious about it: When he only raised an intermittent applause, Güler already understood it as if he had also been asked to come forward. The talent then waited next to him for the remaining four minutes of Pérez’s speech. Typically, new recruits remain in the front row until the President has finished and they are called to speak.
