ASK. A thousand athletes ready to invade the city for the Notte Bianca of sport and commerce. Next Saturday, the historic center of Theatine will be transformed into a huge open field for the most varied disciplines, from the best known to the least known, including chess and a series of collateral initiatives that spill over into the world of culture and commerce , thanks to those shops that decide to stay open.
The event will be opened by a procession with all the 28 federations participating in the event: at 7 pm it will leave the municipal park to parade along Corso Marrucino, headed by the godmother of the event Fabrizia D’Ottavio and by other sports champions such as the boxer Emanuele Cavallucci, the young European judo champion Lucio Tavoletta, tennis player Anastasia Grymalska, silver medalist at the archery world championship Roberta Di Francesco and the Abruzzo talent of women’s motocross Emanuela Talucci.
Having overcome the problem of the concurrence of appointments with Pescara, with the Adriatic capital having withdrawn its own, the event was presented yesterday morning in the Municipality by the councilor for trade and sport Manuel Pantalone, by the deputy mayor Paolo De Cesare, by Massimiliano Milozzi of the provincial Coni, by Ennio Marianetti for the amateur sports association Tennis Chieti, by Daniele Giangiulli general director of Confartigianato Chieti-L’Aquila, by Marisa Tiberio provincial president of Confcommercio and by Marina De Marco, city president of Confesercenti.
“Happy to have put the world of sport and commerce at the same table, to work on an event that we want to consider as an encouragement for the candidacy for European City of Sport for 2025”, said councilor Pantalone, “the idea was born from an interlocution with Coni and the Tennis Chieti association, then shared with the associations of the trade table who immediately joined and seized the opportunity to give the city a special evening with its two active functions, that sports and business”.
Among the side events, there will be the presentation of the book on Sergio Marchionne by Confartigianato, which will be held at 9 pm in Palazzo de Majo. The shops will be able to stay open after hours and several bars have organized initiatives in their spaces. «The city will change its look for one night», continued Pantalone, «we will have a tennis court in piazza Valignani, in piazza Vico there will be spaces for judo and athletics, at the Villa we will give home to many other disciplines, including a special subbuteo . It will be the first night of Sport and Commerce in Abruzzo, we want to open the doors of the city not only to the Theatines, but to the entire territory that practices sport and goes shopping here».
Two vocations, sport and commerce, on which De Cesare is also betting: «These two historical vocations of the city», he said, «will act as an attraction not only for the resident community, but also for that of the centers close to us. There will be events, big and small, featuring the sporting talents who have carried the city’s colors aloft. With their results and sacrifices we will liven up the evening with an activity that Chieti has always hosted, even in sensitive and delicate periods like the one we are experiencing».
