One thing is certain even before the semifinals: The winner of the Salzburg Challenger 2023 comes from Austria!
Youngster Lukas Neumayer follows Sebastian Ofner with a sovereign win against Blaz Rola (6:4, 3:6, 7:5) in his first Challenger final of his career and at the same time ensures a purely Austrian final.
Neumayer, who was only 20, kept up well from the start and forced the Slovenian to make more mistakes, which brought him an important break when the score was 3:3. The man from Salzburg then used this advantage ideally, didn’t give up a service game even in the first set and secured the first round 6:4.
At the beginning of the second set, however, Rola took on the fight in the game and kept forcing Neumayer into long rallies and games, which is why the ÖTV youngster initially had to follow a narrow deficit.
