Orienteering runner Jannis Bonek won bronze over the middle distance (6.1 km/23 checkpoints) in Laax, Switzerland, giving Austria’s men their first medal at the World Championships.

The 24-year-old from Naturefriends Vienna is the reigning national champion. On Saturday he celebrated his greatest international success to date. Only the two Swiss Matthias Kyburz and Joey Hadorn were out of reach.
