Brad Pitt Spotted at Silverstone Circuit Filming Upcoming Formula 1 Movie

The actor wore a black and white racing suit to represent the fictional APXGP team as he mingled with the real riders on the grid at the Northamptonshire circuit

Brad Pitt was spotted at the Silverstone circuit on Sunday ahead of the British Grand Prix. The Hollywood actor will shoot scenes for his upcoming Formula 1 movie there. He and co-star Damson Idris wore black and white racing suits to represent the fictional APXGP team as they mingled with the real drivers on the grid at the Northamptonshire circuit.

Seven-times world champion Lewis Hamilton is co-producing the as-yet-untitled Apple film, which is being made in partnership with F1, granting the project special access to tracks and drivers. After taking to the track at Silverstone, the Oscar-winning actor spoke about the experience with Sky Sports presenter and former F1 driver Martin Brundle: “It’s great to be here. We’re having so much fun, it’s the best moment of my life.”

Revealing more details about the upcoming film, the actor explained that his character was an F1 driver in the 90s who suffered a “terrible accident”. His friend and team owner, played by Javier Bardem, calls to ask him to come back to racing to help his bottom team. Pitt said the film “should be as authentic as possible”, as F1 experts were hired who “run the show as if it were real”. He added: “Lewis, who is also our producer, is really keen to respect the sport, to show it for what it is. And I have to say, as a civilian, I had no idea what it took to be a driver – they are amazing athletes that I have a lot of respect for, everyone out there, in all classes.” Pitt got to grips with Formula 2 machinery for two months, first at the Paul Ricard circuit in France and then at Silverstone.

Joseph Kosinski, known for his work on Top Gun: Maverick, will direct the film and Hamilton will co-produce with Plan B Entertainment and Jerry Bruckheimer Films.

A number of well-known faces were in attendance at the British Grand Prix, including Colombian pop star Shakira, One Direction singer Liam Payne and Eurovision star Sam Ryder. Actress Florence Pugh also cheered on the pilots, while former Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond told the PA news agency the day was “fantastic”. Actor-singer Damian Lewis performed the national anthem for the Grand Prix, while Rudimentals entertained the Red Bull Pole Position area.

Max Verstappen took a sixth consecutive win, while Lando Norris battled with Hamilton to hold on to second place and keep the Briton in third position.
