Britney Spears Shares ‘Traumatic’ Encounter with NBA Star’s Safety at Las Vegas Casino Resort

Britney Spears has said she is still a “huge fan” of Victor Wembanyama despite a “traumatic” experience with the NBA star’s safety.

The pop superstar claimed she was hit by a security guard as she tried to approach Wembanyama near a restaurant at a casino resort in Las Vegas on Wednesday (July 5).

The San Antonio Spurs center, selected first in this year’s draft, claimed someone – who he was later told was Spears – grabbed him from behind during the incident.

In a video of the incident, shared by TMZ, Spears can be seen reaching for the back of the basketball player from behind when confronted by a third party and abruptly pushed away.

Spears filed a police report with the Las Vegas Police Department after what she called an “embarrassing” and “traumatic” experience.

The “Toxic” hitmaker has refuted Wembanyama’s claims that she caught him. Instead, she said she approached the NBA star to congratulate him on his success, so she tapped him on the shoulder because it was “really loud” on the site.

“I tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention,” Spears wrote on Instagram.

“His security then gave me a backhand in the face without turning around, in front of a crowd. I almost fell over and knocked my glasses off.

However, Las Vegas police said their investigation into the incident was complete and no charges would be brought against anyone involved.

Authorities concluded that when Spears touched the player, her security guard pushed her hand away “without looking”, causing “Britney’s hand to hit her face”, reported the BBC.

After police confirmed no charges would be filed for the encounter, the global pop icon released a lengthy statement on social media, sharing her feelings about the decision.

“I’ve been in the industry for years and have rubbed shoulders with some of the most famous people in the world,” Spears wrote in an Instagram post.

“At one point, NSYNC was like the Beatles…girls were throwing themselves everywhere we went…not once in my life did a security guard ever hit another person!!!

Spears added that she “didn’t share this to be a victim” and said her reaction to the incident “was a scream on every level” as she “felt helpless in most situations”.

The pop star previously spent 13 years in a controversial and highly publicized conservatorship that controlled many aspects of her life.

Spears was released from the legal arrangement in November 2021 and she was able to marry Sam Asghari in June 2022.

“No, I don’t feel like I was treated as an equal person in this country…of course when I watched the video myself…the people who surrounded me when they heard me get hit made me feel like I mattered,” Spears said.

Spears added that she still remains a “huge fan of the NBA player” and said “it’s not his fault his safety hit me.”
