Carlos Alcaraz Continues Winning Streak in Hopman Cup Victory

Carlos Alcaraz got scared. The Spaniard, winner of Wimbledon last Sunday, beat David Goffin (4-6, 6-4, 10-8) in the Hopman Cup on Friday. The world No. 1 was pushed to the super tie-break, where he trailed 4-0 before coming back and winning. Alcaraz, now undefeated for thirteen matches, has not bowed since the semi-final of Roland-Garros on June 9 against Novak Djokovic.

With this victory, Spain can still win against Belgium (1-1) for its first match in the Hopman Cup, despite the defeat of Rebeka Masarova against Élise Mertens (7-6, 2-6, 10-5) earlier in the day. The mixed doubles, which will decide the outcome of the meeting, is scheduled for Friday evening around 9 p.m.
