The Cincinnati Bengals are holding their breath. Their star quarterback Joe Burrow suffered an injury in practice Thursday and had to be escorted off the field by cart.
In a video taken at practice, Burrow can be seen running to his right during a rehearsal and then starting to hop on his right leg, visibly inconvenienced by a left leg injury.
Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said after practice it was a calf injury. However, he did not receive any additional information and therefore did not reveal the extent of the injury.
During his comments with the media, receiver and good friend of Burrow Ja’Marr Chase said he wasn’t too worried about him.
“He gave me a nod, he’s fine. We always make this sign to ourselves. He’s a strong guy. »
According to Ian Rapoport, Burrow may have to be sidelined during pre-season games.
The 26-year-old Burrow has been a key part of the Bengals’ success in recent seasons. In 2022-23, Burrow completed a career-high 414 passes for 4,475 yards. He also threw 35 touchdown passes, another career high that ranked him second among quarterbacks.
In 2020, during his first NFL campaign, Burrow suffered a serious left knee injury.
After losing in the Super Bowl final in February 2022, the Bengals were eliminated in the conference finals last season against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Cincinnati finished the regular season atop the AFC North Division with a 12-4 record.
