The 27-year-old free agent performed physical tests and watched his possible future teammates practice. He also spoke at length with the coaches and players of the Big Apple club.

Cook played his first six seasons in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings, having been invited to the Pro Bowl game in the last four editions. The club that drafted him in the second round (41st overall) at the 2017 auction released him last June.

In 2022, he amassed 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns on carries. The Florida State University product also caught 39 passes for 295 yards and two majors.

The Jets have been very active in the last few months to improve their formation, in particular by obtaining quarterback Aaron Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers. Wide receivers Allen Lazard, Mecole Hardman and Randall Cobb were also hired through the free agent market.
