Germany’s basketball superstar is surprisingly leaving the USA and will soon go basket hunting in Canada.
Since last night, the time of “free agency” has dawned in the States. This means that players without a contract are allowed to negotiate with new clubs.
Schröder immediately took the opportunity and announced on Twitter that he was joining the Toronto Raptors.

His profile description immediately read: “Toronto Raptors Point Guard”. ESPN was the first to report.
According to the portal, the native of Braunschweig signed a two-year contract and received 26 million dollars (almost 24 million euros) during this time.
In the past season he received 2.4 million euros for a season with the Lakers. So with the new deal, he briefly increased his income tenfold.

Officially, according to the rules of the “Free Agency”, the Raptors may only announce Schröder as a newcomer from July 6th.
The point guard has been on the upswing lately. With a strong EM, he had played himself back into focus in 2022, before that he was without a contract. After winning the bronze medal with Germany, the Lakers pulled the star ashore.
This was particularly surprising because Schröder had rejected a well-paid offer from the club for an extension in spring 2021 and was then also without a contract for a long time in summer 2021 before going to the Houston Rockets.

By the way, the basketball player was in Munich a few days ago. Due to problems in his right ankle, he visited star doctor Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt (80) in Munich.
He gave him an injection treatment on the Achilles tendon to loosen adhesions.
Schröder felt better shortly afterwards, as he reports in his YouTube video. Before, he had pain every time he ran and especially when he pushed off before jumping.
Since, unlike in the past two years, his future is now clear, the superstar should enjoy a relaxing summer with his wife and their three children.
