But let’s remember the beginning of May, when the main topic was the price of tickets for the world championship. True, many may have forgotten who owns the complex Arena Riga. Only two journalists attended the national team’s classes in person, who then also provided further information about what was happening in the national team. In terms of content, hockey had reached a low point, but one successful tournament immediately managed to turn the sails in a sunnier direction. More than 312 thousand viewers watched the quarter-final match between Latvia and Sweden on TV screens, which was the highest figure since the 2014 Olympic duel against the Canadian national team.

Although the players’ interest in joining the national team before the championship was high, there were also refusals from hockey players who are at the head of the Latvian national team in terms of skill level. Specifically, we are talking about representatives of the National Hockey League (NHL).
