Money windfall for the basketball players of FC Bayern Munich – and a new name for their hall!
BMW steps in as a partner. And ensures a deal worth millions! The basketball arena – previously called the Audi Dome – will be called the BMW Park in future.
The contract runs for at least five seasons and brings the club around five million euros a year.
So a total of around 25 million euros – enough money for an attack on the title!

Last season, Munich missed the championship (Ulm triumphed), at least got the cup. But so that it is enough for the title next season, Bayern recently brought in star coach Pablo Laso (55) from Real Madrid.

“It’s a great partnership for us,” says Bayern Managing Director Marko Pesic (46). Even if he emphasizes: “We will not enter a race with Euro-League competitors like Real Madrid or Istanbul. We can’t and don’t want to do what they do. In the long term, however, this deal will help us a lot.”

Pesic’s plan: In the future, the basketball players will play in the new SAP Garden (from the 2024/25 season) AND in the old home, which is now called BMW Park.
Pesic: “It was and will always be our living room. We will not only operate the hall as a sports hall, but also try to develop this hall into an event location. We want to bring in people who aren’t just interested in sports.”
What does the entry bring for BMW?
The basketball deal could just be the beginning of a much larger partnership. The door to the footballers is not far away. The contract with Audi (hold 8.33 percent AG shares) ends in 2029. Bernd Döpke, head of the BMW branch in Munich, reassures: “The one has nothing to do with the other. Now it’s really about basketball.”
