Filippo Tortu is back. At the Absolute Italian championships in Molfetta, the blue athlete confirmed that he had completely overcome the shoulder injury he suffered nine days ago (a sub-dislocation due to excessive exultation at the end of the 4×100 relay) by winning the 200m race. The 4×100 Olympic champion triumphed in 20″14, just 4 cents away from his personal best, signed last year in Nairobi. This is the third best performance of Tortu’s career, who thus managed to redeem the disappointing performances out of the 200 that accompanied its last vintage.

Tortu, together with the Italian title, also brought home the Mennea prize, which this year was awarded in the 200m: «We worked with my coach with great tenacity and determination, with 3 training sessions a day.
For this reason, thinking about the World Championships starting on August 19th, I am very confident of what I will be able to do, even if I know that there is a lot of competition and my opponents are going very fast. In the meantime, I have to think about myself and always improve myself, the main objective of every athlete».
