by the OneSight Foundation EssilorLuxottica Italia.
The Foundation is engaged worldwide in the fight against vision defects, relaunching the mission of the EssilorLuxottica Group to help people “see better and live better”. With this initiative, not being able to act directly on the visual health of the people involved, the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Italia Foundation wants to help improve their social integration through sports,
It is a virtuous synergy that is aimed at vulnerable people and translates into the opportunity to practice sport despite blindness or serious vision problems, offering, at the same time, a path to individual health and well-being and social inclusion.
The OneSight EssilorLuxottica Italia Foundation will support FISPIC in the program of sports gatherings, specific to the discipline of judo, aimed at preparing for the 2024 Paralympics. The first gathering will take place in Turin, specifically in San Mauro Torinese, at the Palaburgo in via Luigi Burgo from 16 to 20 July 2023, followed by 4 other events scheduled in Milan in October 2023, Belluno in November 2023 , Pescara and Genoa in 2024. During the meetings, in addition to the sports training of the athletes, there will be demonstration academies, open to all people with blindness and vision problems who wish to approach the world of Judo. These informative moments will offer the opportunity to discover the potential of a discipline that is particularly suitable for improving the sense of balance, coordination and physical strength: fundamental elements for everyone, but even more so for those deprived of a fundamental sense such as sight.
Helping people to open up to others and integrate, strengthen their character and personality, release tension, improve their physique, participate in large or small competitions, are the great opportunities that sport offers and which no one should give up.
The OneSight EssilorLuxottica Italia Foundation will also support the initiative through the participation of volunteers from the EssilorLuxottica Group, who will join young professional and amateur athletes to provide their support.
Oakley, one of the leading brands in sports performance products and part of the EssilorLuxottica Group, will also participate in the initiative by providing participants with sports clothing and equipment, and HumanWare, a company specializing in the design and production of highly intuitive and intelligent solutions for people with impaired vision, which will provide one of its most important aids for each stage: the Brailliant BI 20X braille display.
