As “DJ Diesel”, the former professional basketball player will be DJing at the “Bootshaus” club on July 28th. The club could have gotten a real bargain.
2.16 meters of concentrated DJ power are coming to Cologne on Friday, July 28th: Former NBA superstar Shaquille “Shaq” O’Neal will play a gig under his stage name “DJ Diesel” at Cologne’s Bootshaus electronic club.
The 51-year-old, who devoted himself to music after his basketball career, performs at the “Bass Allstar Party” together with DJs Sullivan King, Crankdat, Emorfink and Emin. Tickets cost 45 euros.
If you can believe O’Neal’s statements in various US media, the Cologne club even got a real bargain with the commitment of the DJ heavyweight: O’Neal is said to not take any money for his performances. He told the radio station “SiriusXM” in 2019 in a YouTube interview. “I do it for the sport of bass. I love seeing people jumping up and down. It’s like a basketball finals game,” O’Neal told the broadcaster. The interview was picked up in media such as “The Sports Rush” or “Essentially Sports”.
At the request of t-online, the club has not yet commented on the cost of the gig. How the collaboration with O’Neal came about also remained unanswered.
