After 33 years, Franz Beckenbauer’s traditional golf charity tournament has to be discontinued. The organizer also gives t-online the reason for this.
It would have been that time again next Saturday. On July 15, Franz Beckenbauer wanted to welcome his friends and companions to his annual and almost traditional golf charity tournament, the proceeds of which always benefited the Franz-Beckenbauer-Foundation. But the planned 34th edition will not be able to take place.
“After 33 very successful tournaments, the “Kaiser Cup” in the Quellness & Golf Resort Bad Griesbach will be discontinued in its well-known form,” said the Eagles Charity Club, with which Beckenbauer always organized the event together, t-online and justified it as follows: “Franz Beckenbauer, the eponymous emperor, has to step down.” After more than three decades, the “Kaiser Cup” is over – at least for the time being.
Because, “his family, his friends, the Quellness & Golf Resort Bad Griesbach and numerous celebrities would like to continue to do good for the Franz-Beckenbauer-Foundation in his interest,” as the statement goes on to say. Therefore, a new charity golf tournament in favor of the Franz-Beckenbauer-Foundation is planned for 2024, which will then no longer be called the “Kaiser Cup”, but “Beckenbauer Golf Cup”.
In order for the new tournament to start successfully, you need time for planning and organization and for this reason you are taking a break in 2023.
