Future in Question: Lewis Hamilton’s Contract with Mercedes in Limbo

Silverstone

Contract Lewis Hamilton Of Mercedes will expire at the end of this year. The British driver emphasized that he wanted to last longer with Silver Arrow.

Hamilton is entering the final seconds of his contract period at Mercedes. Rumors abounded that the two parties would split soon.

This is based on Hamilton’s achievements at Mercedes. The last two seasons, Mercedes failed to become world champion Formula 1.

In 2021, Hamilton will only be runner up under Max Verstappen from the Red Bull team. Meanwhile last year, the owner of 7 F1 world titles only finished fifth in the driver’s standings, when Verstappen was able to become world champion again.

Several times Lewis Hamilton and boss Mercedes, Toto Wolff, dismissed performance issues as the cause. In fact, discussions about a new contract have already been carried out, with the discussion claiming to go beyond the issue of ‘money and contract period’.

Hamilton later confirmed the discussion. “Yes, that’s right,” he said, reported by RacingNews365.

Previously, Hamilton also emphasized his determination to stay at Mercedes. The 38-year-old driver feels he is still able to compete on the track.

“I hope to be here a lot longer,” Hamilton, at the F1 Show, told Sky Sports ahead of the British Grand Prix.

“I feel that I have at least five more years in me, right? Let’s see,” he explained Lewis Hamilton.
