Gabe Vincent Opens Up About His Move from Miami Heat to the Lakers

In the last season, Gabe Vincent attracted the attention of many franchises. Relatively low-cost deal, excellent shooter and suffocating defender. From undrafted after years with the Santa Barbara Gauchos, the guard has built a central role with the Miami Heat tank top. Then, this summer, the first big contract: 3 years and 33 million to return to his native California and don the Lakers yellow-purple tank top. Guest on the podcast The Old Man & The Three, this is how he explained his farewell to Miami.

“It wasn’t easy, Miami was the team that gave me an opportunity. I grew a lot when I was there, we had some great results. So it hasn’t been easy and I don’t think it’s a secret, I’ve been quite open about wanting to come back and wanting to come back, and my love for the organization I think has been quite reciprocated. But when it came down to it, business got in the way. And the Heat couldn’t reach certain spots that other teams were capable of reaching. The choice fell on Los Angeles, and now it’s time to look to the future”.

Not a secondary reason, the proximity to home. Born in Modesto (California), returning to the American Golden State with his family was a huge attraction for Vincent.

“Is fantastic. I’ll be back home on the West Coast, my family can come and see more games. It’s exciting. The Lakers are a historic franchise. If you grew up in California, you know the Lakers. If you know the NBA, you know the Lakers.”
