The finals will take place in Dresden for the first time in 2025. As Dresden’s Lord Mayor Dirk Hilbert (FDP) and the organizers announced on Monday, the multi-sport event is to be held in two years from July 31st to August 3rd. Athletics, triathlon and gymnastics should definitely be there, the other sports program is yet to be announced. This year, as part of the so-called finals, the German championships in 18 sports will take place simultaneously in Düsseldorf, Duisburg, Kassel (athletics) and Berlin (swimming). There will be no finals next summer because of the Olympic Games in Paris. This means that Dresden will once again have a major sporting event. The Elbe metropolis had hosted the cross-country skiing world cup on the banks of the Elbe for five years. Funding was becoming increasingly difficult due to the masses of artificial snow needed, so the December 2021 edition was the last.
