U21 – Germany’s squad at the European Championship 2023

23 players are part of the squad that is making its way to the training camp in South Tyrol. Among them are three senior internationals who are stepping back into the junior team for the tournament. Josha Vagnoman (defence, VfB Stuttgart), Kevin Schade (forward, FC Brentford) and Youssoufa Moukoko have already gained experience in Hansi Flick’s senior squad in the past. The squad is otherwise peppered with some seasoned Bundesliga professionals.

All three players who were dropped from the provisional 26-man squad were not enough due to injuries: Jordan Beyer (FC Burnley), Patrick Osterhage (VfL Bochum) and Jan Thielmann (1. FC Köln).

Ansgar Knauff also had to leave at short notice because he broke his collarbone in the dress rehearsal against Switzerland. He is replaced by Finn-Ole Becker from TSG Hoffenheim.
