Jonas Vingegaard imposes himself in Combloux as master of clocks – Liberation

The yellow jersey and leader of the Jumbo-Visma crushed the alpine time trial on Tuesday July 18. He takes a serious option for the final victory, Sunday in Paris.

Stages passed and they were unable to separate. It will have been necessary, that finally, they are no longer wheel in wheel for a clear difference to be made. The current leader, Jonas Vingegaard, crushed the time trial on Tuesday between Passy and Combloux (Haute-Savoie). In this individual event, the Jumbo-Visma courier left no chance to his opponent, Tadej Pogacar. In 21 kilometers, he won 1 minute 38 over the helpless Slovenian. Despite changing bikes for the last uphill part, the wisp was never able to be in the game. Make no mistake about it: Pogacar’s time is excellent, he finished second, more than a minute ahead of third. His Danish opponent was simply an alien in a yellow jumpsuit. “I am the best of normal people”, laughed the roller Wout van Aert in front of this performance…

In the race for the podium, among others, humans, Adam Yates is doing the right thing. Pogacar’s teammate dislodges Spaniard Carlos Rodriguez from third place. In the Domancy coast, 2.5 kilometers at 9.4% average slope, where Bernard Hinault had won his only world champion title in 1980, some played a parallel race for the conquest of the polka dot jersey. For this 2nd category pass, five points were awarded. Neilson Powless and Giulio Ciccone, who both dream of bringing the tunic back to Paris, made the climb hard, the rest of the route quietly. That was just enough for the Italian from Lidl-Trek, who is ahead of Jonas Vingegaard.

There are two possibilities left for Tadej Pogacar to overthrow the Tour. This Wednesday, in the terrible Col de la Loze, or Saturday, during a very demanding Vosges stage.
