Greeted like a rock star by hundreds of fans upon his arrival at Yaoundé airport on Thursday, the Paris Saint-Germain striker began an express trip during which he will notably meet the Cameroonian Prime Minister and participate in works of charity. Mbappé will also make a small detour to the village of origin of his father, born in Cameroon but left very young for France.

Mbappé would like to challenge the Indomitable Lions but…

Asked by CRTV on the possibility of participating one day in a friendly match between the Blues and Cameroon in Yaoundé, the star of the France team validated this idea while recalling that he had no say in the organization matches. “Why not ! We players are always ready to play games no matter where and when, the Blues captain said. Cameroon is a great nation of football at African level but also worldwide (…) It is a respected nation but it is not me who organizes the matches. I think that could be a great possibility. If the match were to be organized, I would be there and ready to play to have a lot of fun”explained the PSG striker.

Change of program for Mbappé

The France team had challenged Cameroon in a friendly match in 2016 at the Beaujoire stadium in Nantes (3-2) but at the time the Parisian striker was only 17 years old and was not yet an international. The former Monegasque was to participate this Friday afternoon in a football match against FC Vent d’Etoudi (Cameroonian D2) whose president is none other than Yannick Noah but the meeting was canceled for security reasons. Earlier in the day, Mbappé took part in a visit to a school for disabled children. The captain of the Blues will be in Douala on Saturday, to discover another school before going to the village of origin of his father Wilfrid Mbappé.
