Madagascar Takes Home Six Medals at African Judo Championships

Antananarivo, July 30, 3:30 p.m. – Catch-up. The Big Island finished third in the African Cadet Team Championships. “We finish in bronze”, rejoices the Malagasy Judo Federation this Sunday by recounting the adventures of the team. After beating the Cameroonians, the Malagasy reach the semi-finals but lose against the Algerians. They then come back “in force against the Moroccans with four victories against one”, underlines the Federation, delighted.

This team bronze medal brings to six the number of medals won by Madagascar among cadets at the African Judo Championships held in Mahamasina since Thursday. In individual fights among the cadets, the Malagasy won two silver medals thanks to Sariaka Migson Rasolondraibe (-40kg) and Michel Tafita (+90kg). Roumaica Benandro (-48kg), Somby Ranaivoseta (-60kg) and Mandresy Razafimpanja (-73kg) each won bronze in their respective categories on Saturday.

On Thursday, Madagascar already won gold among juniors with Aina Laura Rasoanaivo Razafy (-70kg), and two bronzes with Natacha Razafindrakalo Ralevazaha (-60kg) and Miora Rasoanaivo (+78kg).
