Delary, who received the crown of Miss Ecuador 2023 from the outgoing queen, Nayelhi Gonzálezat the gala held this July 1 at the Dr. Alfonso Torres fairgrounds, in Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, spoke with EXTRA about this and other topics.
How did you take the victory? What is the first thing you have in mind to do?
The truth is, I still can’t believe it, I’m happy, getting ready and excited. Now I am already seeing the agenda and how all this to represent my country works. I would love to start with my social project.
My proposal is focused on single mothers. I would also like to start a project of empowerment, mental and physical health so that they can be strong and resilient women who eat the whole world.
Why did you decide to focus on single mothers?
A long time ago I volunteerSince I was a child I liked to serve and tried to help the community. On the subject of single mothers, I would like them to learn how to generate resources, to feel full and complete. Through the years, we have empowered ourselves, we are capable and we need to demonstrate much more, that they see that we can be mothers, professionals and that there is no limit. I am an empowered woman.

Tell us more about yourself, for example, what is the origin of your name?
(Laughter) I am 23 years old, I study Business Administration and I have been a professional model for 7 years.. I really like watching movies, reading, I played badminton (racket sport, similar to tennis) before the pandemic. My name is a combination of my parents’ names: Adela and Harry.
my father is dutchHe passed away when he was little. I am one hundred percent Ecuadorian, I was born and raised here. I am from the Tarqui parish (Guayaquil), although I went to live in the Netherlands for a while with my parents. I speak English, I understand Dutch, but it’s very basic.
During your reign, what will stand out the most about Ecuador?
Everything, but, without a doubt, I would highlight the gastronomy, especially the Manabita and the Guayaquil. I love onion.
It is ‘good tooth’ but, how good is it for fashion?
I am a model, so I have worked in the world of fashion, but honestly I consider myself a simple person when it comes to dressing, I am very basic, even for the contest I had to experiment with colors and shapes to stand out. I’m a lot of nude, black and white.
Nayelhi González set fashion during her reign year, will you do the same?
I would like to mix and talk with the designers to show what I am: very basic. I would like to highlight in my outfits a bit of who I am and fashion.
At the gala, the Telemundo presenter and jury, Carlos Aydan asked him: ‘What do you regret in your life?’ Do you remember what he said?
Of course I do and I stand by it. Every process I’ve been through, good and bad, has made me the woman I am now. She would regret any pain she caused another person, since innocence.
