Melvin Gordon Signs One-Year Deal with Baltimore Ravens; New York Giants Sign James Robinson as Insurance Policy

Veteran running back Melvin Gordon has signed a one-year, $3.1 million contract with the Baltimore Ravens, the team announced.

The deal will be confirmed once Gordon passes the physical tests.

The 30-year-old has spent the past three seasons in a Denver Broncos uniform. In 2022, Gordon had 318 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games.

Gordon joins an already well-stocked group of running backs in Baltimore, with JK Dobbins, Gus Edwards and Justice Hill.

In 108 games since the start of his career, Gordon has a total of 6,662 rushing yards and 69 touchdowns.

Giants guard against possible Barkley absence

The New York Giants have signed running back James Robinson.

The Giants thus get their hands on an insurance policy with the anticipated absence of Saquon Barkley during training camp and the preparatory calendar.

Barkley said he even considered not playing for the Giants this season to protest the standoff that has developed between him and the team over his new contract negotiations.

The Giants and Barkley did not agree to a contract until Monday, which means the star running back will play next season at the franchise player salary of $10.091 million.

Robinson, 24 years old, obtained 1070 yards and seven touched on the ground during his first season in the NFL with the Jacksonville jaguars in 2020. He chained with a season of 767 yards and eight affected by the race in 2021 before being limited to 425 yards and three touched on the year last in 11 games, only with jaguars, from New York.
