A total of five medals was achieved by the Mexican Youth Judo Team at the Panamerican Youth U15 Championships 2023, held this weekend in Lima, Peru, where the national team ranked third in the overall medal table.
This event, which was endorsed by the Pan American Judo Confederation (CPJ) and the Peruvian Judo Sports Federation, was attended by 160 competitors from 9 nations, and was part of the Pan American Judo Tour.
The Videna sports center was the scene where the practitioners of this martial art met and in which Rafael García. He managed to take the gold medal in his category of -58 kilograms.
For her part, Briana Sánchez, also managed to get on the podium to win the silver medal in the +64 kg category.
As for the bronze medals, these were won by Kevin Villegas, -36 kg; Dayana Rodríguez, -44 kg; and Abel Lozada, -64 kg.
Regarding the rest of the Mexican team, four of them reached fifth position, being Carmen Bustos, -36 kg; Nahomi Rivera, -44 kg; Jazmín López –53 kg; and Carolina Garza, -58 kg.
Similarly, in position 7th were Arath Cruzalta -48 kg; Abraham Olmos and Francisco Rodriguez both in the -58 kg category; Alberto Zamora, 64 pounds; Fernanda Gonzalez, -48 lbs.; and Maria Muniz, -53 kg.
With these results, Mexico was ranked third in the general medal table in which Brazil was in first position, while Ecuador was in second.
