Mislintat sees potential new leader at Ajax: ‘He has shown that’

In conversation with De Telegraaf, Sven Mislintat looked back on Dusan Tadic’s departure from Ajax. The director of football affairs calls the departure of the 34-year-old Serbian ‘difficult, but perhaps the right timing’. Earlier this month, Tadic’s contract with Ajax was terminated after five years, after which he signed a two-year contract with Fenerbahçe.
When asked, Mislintat says that he finds Tadic’s departure difficult. “But maybe also the right timing,” De Telegraaf quotes him. “If we start a new project for the next two to four years, it might be good to break with the old leaders.” As a result, according to Mislintat, new players can step up and take the lead.

As an example he mentions acquisition Branco van den Boomen. “He has already shown that this preparation, Benjamin Tahirovic is showing to be a personality and hopefully others will follow. You can’t buy leaders. Leadership grows. And there are also different types of leaders: those who lead by example, aggressive leaders and those who connect.” With the departure of Tadic, Ajax also lost its captain. It is not yet known who will be the new captain of the team from Amsterdam.
Tadic left Ajax after he complained about the transfer policy. The attacker thought that level reinforcements had to come quickly, but td Mislintat did not want to comply immediately.
