MLB Announces Schedule for 2024 Season Including International Games

Before the activity on the diamond resumes this Friday, Major League Baseball took advantage of the last day of the break for the All-Star Game 2023 to launch the schedule for the 2024 season.

While Commissioner Rob Mandred’s office announced Wednesday afternoon that the upcoming season will kick off in Seoul with a series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres on March 20-21, the full picture was revealed today.

The best baseball in the world will take its MLB WORLD TOUR to four different countries outside of the United States and Canada throughout 2024.

The big tent will kick off with the first ever regular season games in Korea when the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres meet for two games in Seoul.

Regular season games will be back in Mexico City for the second straight season with two games between the Houston Astros and Colorado Rockies on April 27 and 28.

This miniseries joins the two previously announced games between the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies at London Stadium on June 8 and 9, 2024.

In addition to the three regular-season international series, the Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays will meet for a pair of Spring Training games at Estadio Quisqueya in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on March 9-10.

Notable dates and series

The traditional Opening Day takes place on March 28 with the 30 teams in action. Then there are eight games on March 29 with a full slate of 15 games each March 30 and 31 and then the season continues. On April 27 and 28, the Rockies and Astros will meet in Mexico City. The Mets and The Phillies will be the entrants in next year’s London Series, which will take place June 8-9. The special game at Rickwood Field with a Negro Leagues tribute will occur on June 20 between the Giants and Cardinals. The All Star Game will take place on July 16 at Globe Life Field (home of the Rangers) in Arlington. The 30 teams have scheduled commitments on: Jackie Robinson Day (April 15), Lou Gehrig Day (June 2) , on July 4, Roberto Clemente Day (September 15). As usual, the 30 teams are in action on the last day of the season, which falls on a Sunday. This time it will be on September 29, presumably with all the games starting at the same time as well. Start of the postseason will be on October 1
